Is it necessary to have the same wedding ring with your partner?

Do couples need to have the same wedding rings?

You are engaged and it is time to start planning the wedding. One of the most essential and important things that you should absolutely look into are the wedding rings. As with everything regarding the big day it might be a bit overwhelming if you haven’t been that interested in the topic before and this is your first time. You are most likely wondering what are the parameters here, how to choose them, where to buy them from, and what you should consider. Let’s dive in.

Engagement and wedding rings

Let’s start with the ladies. It is most likely that some women prefer to wear their wedding band with their engagement ring. If you like that then you probably are interested in styles that look good together. With that in mind, the way to assure that is by using the same material, design, pattern, or precious stones.

Other bold choices are to use very different rings that you like for various reasons but cherish equally. For example when you receive a family ring for an engagement ring and it is, of course, gorgeous but you still want your individuality to shine and be noticed this is a great way to showcase that. Just combine them and enjoy them.

Are the groom’s and the bride rings supposed to have similar designs?

The common practice that you will experience when entering a jewelry shop or searching online is seeing a set of two rings. They appear the same made from one material. A woman’s ring is a smaller or thinner version of men’s. We observe variations in size and thickness. This is a traditional option. However many couples are going for alternative solutions.

One of the biggest reasons is safety. If you can not wear a metal ring at work then why buy a wedding ring that you won’t be able to wear all the time. Some extremely responsible professions have certain requirements that are not to be dismissed. If you check this box then your spouse might wear a metal ring but you are forced to look for an alternative. Here we would like to mention that silicone wedding bands replace the traditional ring just fine if not even better. With its many perks brings even more to the table, for example, besides safety there is comfort. People have active lifestyles and are looking for products that will make their lives better, easier by not having to remove a wedding ring every time they intend to work out. That is a good point don’t you think?

We can add body or weight change to the mix. Think about it, over time our bodies go through so many changes and activities why not have a ring that stretches and gives flexibility. Of course, here we can also add pregnancy during this period fingers tend to swell which can lead to discomfort and removal of the wedding ring.

A third is to pick a ring separately meaning everyone chooses his own

So why not select a ring you will enjoy for the rest of your life. A ring that will bring a smile to your face every time you look at it. Isn’t that important. If you like a silicone wedding ring and your spouse likes metal or wooden or likes to stack a couple of rings then you are a couple who has a more modern vision. Why not combine the best of both worlds. It is a great start to your married journey. Both of you expressing your individuality in a meaningful way that unites you.

Either way, we at Maui rings wish you a lot of love and happiness.
